Tours. Future plans for Cuckolds Lighthouse include guided public tours to view and experience the restored 1892 Light Station. Planned museum exhibits and classroom space are not yet complete. Construction on the island and waterfront improvements continue. Tours are approximately two hours long, and depart from Cape Newagen, Southport, Maine, or from other locations in Boothbay Harbor. These future tours will include:
■ Transportation and cruise to and from the Cuckolds aboard our Cuckolds launch, piloted by a US Coast Guard licensed captain.
■ A docent-guided tour of the Cuckolds Island, its facilities and the historic Light Tower. Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture the stunning views.
■ Time to explore the island on your own, shop in our Lighthouse store, enjoy 360-degree island views, and appreciate the majesty of the open ocean.
Tour Prices range from $20 for students to $30 for adults. Special lobster lunch tours that include a fresh-caught lobster roll picnic and wine or beverage are $60 per person. Group rates that support the Lighthouse’s cultural, recreational and educational mission can be arranged.
Contributions. Rescuing Cuckolds Light has taken a decade of efforts and many generous contributions from lighthouse lovers and others. Going forward, operation must be sustainable, so we need to cover costs. All contributions to this nonprofit help sustain this iconic Lighthouse.
Access. This rugged island is not ADA accessible. If you need a cane, walker, or wheelchair, or have balance or sure-footedness issues, we recommend that you access Cuckolds information online and/or by visiting off-island exhibits that are currently under development. For safety purposes, children under 12 are not permitted, and children 12-18 must be accompanied by an adult. All visitors must sign our “scary warning” waiver.
